During the retreat, participants will hear inspiring stories from sisters about their call and current lives, experience the Sisters of Providence’s way of life through prayer, vows, ministries, and community living, and immerse themselves in the serene surroundings of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods to discern their own path. This retreat is a chance to ask important questions like, “Am I called to be a sister?” and “Is God calling me to Religious Life?”
The Sisters of Providence have a rich history of faithfulness to prayer, trust in Providence, and a commitment to love, mercy, and justice. They have been serving the community since 1840, advocating for justice and offering ministries that respond to current needs, such as serving at the US/Mexico border, teaching, and working in social justice arenas.
If you are interested in exploring how you can live the legacy and mission of a saint as a Sister of Providence, sign up for the retreat today using the form on the event page or contact Sister Joni Luna for more information.
The retreat will take place at the Sisters of Providence in Terre Haute, Indiana. Check-in will be on Friday, October 17, 2025, inside the East doors of Providence Hall. Dress is casual, but participants may want to bring a nicer outfit for Mass on Sunday. Don’t forget to bring a journal/notepad and a reusable water bottle for the weekend.
Join the Sisters of Providence in creating a more just and hope-filled world through prayer, education, service, and advocacy. Come and see if this community is the right fit for you and embark on a journey of faith and service.
