Wheelchair Rugby League and Traditional Rugby League Advance: England and Pacific Nations Secure Semi-Final Spots

In a significant development for the Rugby League World Cup, two distinct narratives have emerged regarding the path to the semi-finals. In the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup, England secured a dominant position by defeating the USA with a score of 134-0. This victory, which saw England score 23 tries, took place at the Wollongong Entertainment Arena in New South Wales. The win ensures England's place in the semi-finals with one group match remaining, a result that player Mason Billington described as improving the team's rating to a "seven out of 10" (BBC Sport). Simultaneously, the traditional Rugby League World Cup group stages concluded with high-stakes matches between Pacific nations. Tonga and Samoa engaged in what was described as the most anticipated game of the group stages, with both teams successfully booking their spots in the semi-finals. Tonga, having won all three of their group matches, will face New Zealand in the semi-final. Conversely, Samoa will face Australia in a repeat of the 2022 final (Sky Sports; BBC Sport). These outcomes highlight the progression of both the Wheelchair and traditional formats of the sport, with England and the Pacific nations of Tonga and Samoa advancing to the next phase of the tournament. #NexSouk #AIForGood #EthicalAI #RugbyLeague #PacificNations **References** 1.
