Melania Trump Hosts Russian and Ukrainian Officials at White House to Highlight Oleshky Ceasefire

First Lady Melania Trump is hosting delegations from Russia and Ukraine at the White House to discuss the humanitarian ceasefire recently secured in the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky. The event, scheduled for Thursday, follows a six-day pause in fighting that allowed humanitarian aid to reach civilians and facilitated the movement of hundreds of residents. During the gathering, First Lady Trump praised both nations for choosing "humanity over war" by adhering to the agreement, describing the Oleshky deal as a "spark in a world of darkness" that could lead to more enduring peace between the two countries. The White House event marks a significant diplomatic engagement, bringing together representatives from the warring foes to highlight the progress made in the region. Reports indicate that the six-day pause, secured late last month, has been instrumental in delivering aid to civilians in Oleshky. First Lady Trump's comments emphasize the importance of this temporary truce as a potential foundation for future negotiations. The coverage of the event spans multiple news outlets, with reports highlighting the significance of the First Lady's role in brokering the ceasefire. NBC News noted the First Lady's gratitude toward Russia and Ukraine for following through with the agreement, while Fox News characterized the Oleshky ceasefire as a critical step toward lasting peace. Breitbart also covered the upcoming White House event, underscoring the First Lady's continued efforts in engaging in diplomacy between the two nations. ### References 1. The Hill.
