Maya Hawke and the R-Rated Indiana Jones Pitch: A Snapshot of Current Entertainment News

Recent developments in the entertainment sector have highlighted two distinct, high-profile stories involving established talent and legacy franchises. In the realm of fantasy adaptations, Maya Hawke, known for her role in *Stranger Things*, has joined the cast of Hasbro's live-action *Magic: The Gathering* movie. According to reports from The A.V. Club, producers behind the film were reportedly keen to cast Hawke as the first star in a planned ensemble cast, though her specific role remains unclear. This casting news was further detailed by GamesRadar, which noted that Matt Johnson, associated with Nirvanna The Band The Show, is set to direct the project. Simultaneously, the landscape of classic franchise revivals is shifting toward more mature tones. Curry Barker, the writer-director behind the film *Obsession*, has pitched an R-rated version of *Indiana Jones*. As reported by The A.V. Club, Barker aims to create a version of the franchise that steers away from the traditional family-friendly tone and instead pushes genre boundaries. These stories reflect ongoing industry interest in reimagining iconic properties and integrating contemporary stars into fantasy universes, though specific details regarding production schedules, final casting decisions, or the ultimate fate of these pitches remain unconfirmed in the available reports. **References** * The A.V.
