Former Australia Opener Reveals Team-Wide Knowledge of 2018 Ball-Tampering Scandal

Former Australian cricket opener Usman Khawaja has stated that the entire Australian dressing room was aware of the ball-tampering incident that occurred during the final Test match of their 2018 series against South Africa in Cape Town. Speaking on the matter, Khawaja confirmed that the knowledge of the sandpaper usage was not isolated to a few individuals but was shared across the team. According to reports from Sky Sports, Khawaja explicitly claimed that the whole side knew about the scandal, challenging the narrative that the incident was the result of a rogue element acting alone. This assertion aligns with statements made by Khawaja in an interview with the BBC, where he reiterated that the entire team was privy to the use of sandpaper to alter the ball's condition during the match. The incident in question took place in 2018 in Cape Town, involving the Australian cricket team. Khawaja's comments highlight the extent of the involvement within the squad, suggesting a collective awareness of the actions taken during the game.
