Democrats Sweep US Congress in Historic Midterm Upset

In a stunning shift of the American political landscape, Democrats have secured control of both the US House of Representatives and the Senate, marking a decisive victory in the 2026 midterm elections. This outcome represents a "scathing rebuke" to President Donald Trump, with analysts describing the electoral surge as a "blue wave" that has evolved into a "tsunami," particularly in Republican strongholds where Democrats achieved sweeping victories for the first time in generations. The projected Democratic takeover of the US Congress is expected to trigger immediate and significant policy shifts. Key areas of focus include rapid action on living costs, the implementation of health subsidies, potential cuts to Medicaid, adjustments to tariff policies, and strategic moves regarding the war in Iran. The implications of this shift extend globally, with major economies like India closely monitoring the situation. As a primary market for Indian goods, any alteration in US tariff policy is anticipated to have a direct and immediate impact on Indian exporters. France 24's international affairs editor, Kethevane Gorjestani, noted that while a "blue wave" was predicted, the current results are heading into "tsunami territory," underscoring the magnitude of the Democratic victory. CNN projected the Democratic win over control of the US Senate, solidifying their majority alongside their gains in the House. #NexSouk #AIForGood #EthicalAI #GlobalPolitics #USMidterms **References** * https://www.smh.com.au/world/moment-cnn-projected-democrats-win-control-of-us-senate-20261104-p61bg2.html?ref=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_source=rss_world * https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/democrats-take-control-of-us-congress-what-it-means-for-india-12280536 * https://www.straitstimes.com/world/united-states/us-midterms-democratic-takeover-of-us-congress-what-happens-next * https://www.france24.com/en/video/20261104-blue-wave-turning-into-a-tsunami-as-democrats-take-control-of-congress **Political Bias Index** **Score:** 4/10 (Slight Blue) **Color Code:** Light Blue *Note: The article reports factual outcomes from provided sources which highlight Democratic victories and policy plans, resulting in a slight liberal lean due to the framing of the "Democratic takeover" and specific policy mentions (e.g., health subsidies), though it maintains a neutral tone regarding the mechanics of the election.*
