DC Studios Unveils Plans for New John Constantine Film with Francis Galluppi

DC Studios has confirmed that a new *John Constantine* movie is currently in development, marking a significant addition to the studio's upcoming slate. According to recent reports, the project will be written by Francis Galluppi, the director and star known for his role in *Evil Dead: Rise of Herbie* (often referred to as *Evil Dead Wrath* in industry discussions). This announcement follows the commercial success of *Clayface*, which has become the highest-grossing pure body horror movie in history, suggesting a strategic pivot toward darker, horror-centric content within the DC Universe. The development of this film introduces a notable narrative variable regarding the franchise's lead actor. While the character of John Constantine is famously associated with Keanu Reeves, who starred in the 2005 film *Constantine*, the current status of Reeves' involvement remains uncertain. Industry observers note that the future of the character in the DC Universe now hinges on whether Reeves returns or if the role is recast, a decision that could significantly impact the film's trajectory and fan reception. The project represents a potential evolution for DC Studios, aiming to capitalize on the momentum generated by recent horror successes. By tapping Galluppi, a filmmaker with a background in high-energy horror, the studio is signaling an intent to blend supernatural elements with the gritty, anti-hero tone established in previous iterations of the character. **Sources:** 1.
