2026 US Midterms: Michigan Senate Race Becomes Flashpoint After Haley Stevens Endorses Mike Rogers

The 2026 US midterm elections have intensified globally, with the Senate race in Michigan emerging as a critical battleground determining whether Democrats can challenge the Trump administration's power. The race took an unexpected turn on Sunday when Democratic Congresswoman Haley Stevens endorsed Republican nominee Mike Rogers over fellow Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, shifting the dynamic of one of the country's most closely watched contests. Abdul El-Sayed, a doctor and former medical administrator, has been rallying support across Michigan with a platform promising free healthcare for all Americans. On Monday evening, November 2, El-Sayed made his closing pitch to voters at the Majestic Theatre in Detroit, drawing huge crowds in one of America's poorest communities. This event highlighted the stakes for the left-wing candidate as he sought to secure the Democratic nomination in a crucial state. Following the endorsement by Stevens, both candidates made their final pitches to voters during campaign rallies on Monday evening. The situation underscores the volatility of the 2026 midterms, where polls are expected to determine the balance of power in the Senate.
