The Fairbuds XL (2025) features new “premium” 40mm dynamic drivers and stronger N52 rated magnets, resulting in enhanced bass response and improved accuracy in mid and high frequencies. The headphones also come with a paper-based speaker membrane for refined sound output. Users can expect cleaner bass, sharper mid and high tones, and effective active noise cancellation, making for an immersive audio experience.
One of the standout features of the Fairbuds XL (2025) is its focus on sustainable materials. Fairphone has replaced the PU “leather” in the ear cushions with Bird’s Eye Fabric, a breathable cotton fabric commonly used in athleisure products. The headband’s PU material has been substituted with a high-end sport headphone fabric. Additionally, the headphones contain 100% fair-mined cobalt, copper, and silver, along with 100% recycled rare earth metals for the speaker magnets. The manufacturing process also incorporates over 90% recycled aluminum and 80% recycled plastics, with a commitment to recycling an equal amount of e-waste for every pair sold.
In line with Fairphone’s ethos, the Fairbuds XL (2025) are Longtime certified, meeting European standards for longevity, repairability, and support infrastructure. The company ensures that workers involved in the production receive a living wage bonus, promoting fair labor practices.
The new headphones are available for purchase in Europe, with a US release planned for later this month. Priced at $229, the Fairbuds XL (2025) offer consumers a sustainable audio solution that combines quality sound performance with eco-friendly materials.
