As severe weather continues to sweep across the southern United States, multiple weather-related alerts have been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in various regions. From tornado warnings to flood advisories, residents in Louisiana, Texas, and Tennessee are urged to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions.
In Louisiana, a Tornado Warning has been issued for several parishes, including De Soto, Natchitoches, Red River, and Sabine. The warning, in effect until 9:45 PM CST, highlights the potential for a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado. Residents in Campti, Allen, Pleasant Hill, and other areas are advised to seek shelter immediately as flying debris and damage to structures are possible.
Additionally, a Special Weather Statement in the same region warns of a strong thunderstorm moving northeast at 50 mph, with wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea-sized hail. Locations such as Ruston, Choudrant, and Eros may experience minor damage to outdoor objects due to the storm.
In Texas, a Flood Advisory has been issued for northwest Louisiana and northeast Texas, including areas like Milam, Many, and Hemphill. Excessive rainfall is expected to cause urban area and small stream flooding, with additional rainfall amounts likely to result in minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Further east in Tennessee, a Special Weather Statement alerts residents to a strong thunderstorm over Coffeeville, with winds in excess of 30 mph and pea-sized hail. Locations such as Bruce, Paris, and Bryant may experience gusty winds that could knock down tree limbs and cause minor hail damage to vegetation.
As the severe weather continues to move across the region, Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have been issued for various areas, including Natchitoches, Many, and San Augustine. Residents are advised to be cautious of 60 mph wind gusts and small hail that could lead to damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
In addition to these alerts, a Tornado Watch remains in effect for several counties in southeast Texas, including Brazoria, Harris, and Liberty. Cities like Houston, Galveston, and Texas City are included in the watch, with the potential for tornadoes until 1 AM CST Tuesday.
As communities brace for the impact of these severe weather events, it is crucial for residents to stay informed, heed warnings from local authorities, and take necessary safety measures to protect themselves and their property.
