In Maine, a Special Weather Statement was issued by the NWS in Gray, warning of heavy snow showers moving east to east-southeast at 15 MPH. Locations impacted include Waterford, New Gloucester, Wales, and more. Visibility is expected to drop quickly to less than half a mile, making travel hazardous. The NWS advises delaying travel until the snow showers pass.
Similarly, Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings have been issued in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, cautioning residents about afternoon snow showers that may add little to no additional accumulation. Additionally, a Lake Effect Snow Warning has been issued in the same region.
In Wyoming, a High Wind Warning has been issued by the NWS in Cheyenne, with west winds of 30 to 45 mph and gusts up to 65 mph expected. This warning mainly impacts transportation, especially light-weight or high-profile vehicles, along Interstate 80.
Moving to New York, the NWS in Buffalo has issued Winter Weather Advisories for Niagara and Orleans Counties, as well as Jefferson and Lewis Counties. These advisories warn of additional snow accumulations in the most persistent lake snows, making travel difficult and impacting commutes.
As these weather alerts are in effect, it is crucial for residents in the affected areas to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. Following the guidance of local authorities and being prepared for changing weather conditions can help mitigate risks associated with winter weather.
