As we head into the week, various regions in the United States are facing high wind warnings and special weather statements, impacting areas from New Mexico to Virginia. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued alerts for different states, highlighting the potential risks and impacts of the strong winds.
In New Mexico, a High Wind Warning has been issued for the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Central Highlands, and Guadalupe County. West winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are expected from 2 AM to 3 PM MDT on Monday. The NWS warns of potential tree and power line damage, power outages, and difficult travel conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles.
Moving to Virginia, the NWS has released Special Weather Statements for several areas, including the Severn River, Breezy Point, White Point Beach, and more. Gusty showers with wind gusts up to 40 mph are forecasted, posing risks of tree limb damage and unsecured object displacement. Locations like Cambridge, Franklin, and Newport News are expected to be impacted by these weather conditions.
In Montana, a High Wind Watch is in effect for Carter, Custer, and Fallon counties, with northwest winds of 30 to 40 mph and gusts up to 60 mph possible. The NWS advises that strong winds could affect unsecured objects and make travel challenging, particularly for high-profile vehicles.
Additionally, Eastern Tucker County in Pennsylvania is under a Wind Advisory until 8 AM EDT Monday, with west winds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts up to 50 mph. The advisory warns of potential tree limb damage, unsecured object displacement, and a few power outages, especially in higher elevations.
Furthermore, a Beach Hazards Statement has been issued for several coastal areas in California, including San Francisco and Monterey Bay Counties. The statement highlights an increased risk of sneaker waves and rip currents due to a long period northwesterly swell, urging swimmers to stay near lifeguards for safety.
As these weather events unfold across the country, it is crucial for residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being.
