In Anne Arundel County, water is predicted to approach businesses on Dock Street in Annapolis, flood the City Dock parking lot, and inundate Compromise Street. The advisory covers different timeframes, with the first Coastal Flood Advisory lasting until 2 PM EDT, the Coastal Flood Warning from 2 PM to 8 PM EDT, and the second Coastal Flood Advisory from 8 PM to 8 AM EDT the following day.
Similarly, in St. Mary’s County, flooding is expected to cover roads on Saint George Island, reach yards, and approach structures. The advisory highlights that water is encroaching upon multiple marinas off St. Mary’s River, Smith Creek, and Jutland Creek, with tides one and a half to two feet above normal.
In the City of Alexandria and Arlington County, water is anticipated to approach the curb near the intersection of King Street and Strand Street. The advisory extends until 9 PM EDT, emphasizing the impact of high tides in low-lying areas.
Southern Baltimore County and the city of Baltimore are also under a Coastal Flood Advisory, with flooding occurring at the end of Thames Street in Baltimore, covering the promenade in the Inner Harbor, and encroaching upon yards in the Bowleys Quarters area. Tides are expected to be two to two and a half feet above normal.
Lastly, in Calvert County, water is projected to reach backyards near 9th Street in North Beach and flood parking lots near Charles Street in Solomons. The advisory extends until 5 AM EDT the following day, with tides one and a half to two feet above normal.
These coastal flood advisories underscore the potential risks of tidal flooding in various regions along Maryland’s shoreline. Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to take precautions and stay informed about the changing weather conditions.
