Minor flooding in creeks and normally dry washes is occurring, with dangerous flooding over low-water crossings. The advisory is in place until 6 AM MST on September 5th.
On the East Coast, a Coastal Flood Advisory issued by the NWS Wakefield VA for Dorchester County warns of up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. Shallow flooding is expected, posing a low threat of property damage until 7 AM EDT on September 5th.
In Michigan, a Beach Hazards Statement issued by the NWS Detroit/Pontiac MI cautions of dangerous swimming conditions due to high waves of 3 to 5 feet and rip currents in Monroe County. Strong currents can pose a threat to swimmers, pulling them into deeper water and sweeping them off piers. The statement is in effect from Friday morning through Friday evening.
Additionally, Flood Watches have been issued by the NWS Albuquerque NM for central New Mexico and north central/northeast New Mexico, warning of flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall near burn scars. The watches are in effect from noon MDT on September 5th through the evening of September 6th.
Furthermore, a Rip Current Statement issued by the NWS Upton NY warns of dangerous rip currents in Kings, Suffolk, and Nassau Counties in New York. Life-threatening rip currents are likely, urging beachgoers to stay out of the surf zone.
