As severe weather conditions continue to impact various regions across the United States, multiple alerts have been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) to warn residents of potential hazards. From floods to high surf and dense fog, these weather events pose risks to communities and individuals, emphasizing the importance of staying informed and prepared.
In Eastern Alaska Range North of Trims Camp, a Wind Advisory has been issued by NWS Fairbanks AK, with south winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts up to 55 mph expected until 9 AM AKST Friday. The advisory warns of gusty winds that may blow around unsecured objects and could potentially lead to power outages.
In Southwest California, including Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and northern San Diego counties, a Flood Advisory has been issued by NWS San Diego CA. Excessive rainfall is anticipated to cause flooding, particularly in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Doppler radar and rain gauges have indicated heavy rain, with additional rainfall expected to result in minor flooding and potential debris flow over the Airport Burn Scar.
Meanwhile, in the Marianas, a High Surf Advisory and Rip Current Statement have been issued by NWS Tiyan GU. Large breaking waves of 7 to 10 feet in the surf zone and dangerous rip currents pose risks to swimmers and surfers, with localized beach erosion expected. These conditions are forecasted to persist until early Tuesday morning, emphasizing the need for caution in coastal areas.
In Texas, a Flood Warning for the Trinity River at Dallas and a Flood Watch for several counties in south central Texas have been issued by NWS Fort Worth TX and NWS Austin/San Antonio TX, respectively. Minor flooding is occurring and forecasted along the Trinity River, while excessive rainfall may lead to flooding of rivers, creeks, and low-lying areas in the designated counties.
Additionally, a Dense Fog Advisory has been issued by NWS Huntsville AL for portions of north central, northeast, and northwest Alabama, as well as southern middle Tennessee. Low visibility due to dense fog could create hazardous driving conditions until 8 AM CST.
As these weather alerts highlight the diverse range of hazards affecting different regions, it is crucial for residents to heed the warnings, stay informed, and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being.
