The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued flood warnings for the St. Johns River near Above Lake Harney in Seminole County and the St. Johns River near Astor affecting Volusia and Lake Counties in Florida. The warnings are in effect until tomorrow morning and until further notice, respectively.
In Seminole County, the St. Johns River near Above Lake Harney is currently experiencing minor flooding, with water moving into yards on Prevatt Road and flooding of boat ramps and roads in Mullet Lake Park. The river is forecasted to drop from Minor Flood Stage to Action Stage in the coming days, followed by a slow decline through Action Stage for several weeks. The river is expected to fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight and continue falling to 7.5 feet by Tuesday morning.
In Volusia and Lake Counties, the St. Johns River near Astor is also facing minor flooding, with docks, boat ramps, and roads covered by water. The river is expected to continue a very slow decline through Minor Flood Stage over the next several weeks. At 2.8 feet, water is approaching various sites along the river, including South Moon Fish Camp, Blair’s Jungle Den, and Astor Bridge Marina.
Additionally, a Dense Fog Advisory has been issued for portions of south central and southeast Texas until 10 AM CST this morning, with visibility reduced to one quarter to half of a mile in dense fog. Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous in the affected areas.
