The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flood Warning for several rivers in Florida, including the St. Johns River near Above Lake Harney and Astor. The rivers are currently experiencing minor flooding, with levels expected to remain in Minor Flood Stage through the middle of next week.
The St. Johns River above Lake Harney near Geneva is forecast to crest in Minor Flood Stage near 8.2 feet this weekend before gradually declining back to 8.0 feet towards the middle of next week. Docks along the river between Lake Harney and Lemon Bluff are partially submerged at the current stage of 8.2 feet.
Similarly, the St. Johns River at Astor remains within Minor Flood Stage, with levels forecast to fall to 2.7 feet early next week before rising back to 2.8 feet towards the middle of next week. Various areas near the river, including South Moon Fish Camp, Blair’s Jungle Den, and Astor Bridge Marina, are experiencing flooding impacts.
In addition to the flooding, a Dense Fog Advisory has been issued for Southern Monterey Bay, the Big Sur Coast, and North Bay Interior Valleys until 10 AM PDT today. Low visibility due to dense fog could make driving conditions hazardous in these areas.
Meanwhile, a High Surf Advisory is in effect for the north and west facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, and the north facing shores of Maui until 6 AM HST Sunday. Large breaking waves of 10 to 15 feet along north facing shores and 8 to 12 feet along west facing shores could create dangerous swimming conditions.
In Montana, a Wind Advisory has been issued for the Kootenai/Cabinet Region, with southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts up to 45 mph expected from 2 PM this afternoon to midnight MDT tonight. Gusty winds could lead to the blowing around of unsecured objects and potential power outages.
As weather events continue to impact various regions, it is crucial for residents to stay informed about the latest updates and follow safety guidelines provided by local authorities and weather agencies.
