As we head into the weekend, various severe weather alerts have been issued across multiple states, impacting different regions with frost, gusty winds, and coastal flooding. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued these alerts to warn residents of potential hazards and impacts on their communities.
In southeast Kansas and central, east central, southwest, and west central Missouri, a Frost Advisory has been issued from 3 AM to 9 AM CDT on Friday. Temperatures as low as 31 degrees Fahrenheit could result in frost formation, potentially harming sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered.
Moving to the northeast, a Special Weather Statement has been issued for Ridgefield, with gusty showers moving northeast at 30 mph. Wind gusts of up to 50 mph have been reported, posing a hazard of knocking down tree limbs and blowing around unsecured objects in the area.
In New Jersey, a Wind Advisory has been issued for Atlantic Coastal Cape May and Coastal Atlantic Counties, with west winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph expected from 10 AM to 11 PM EDT on Friday. The advisory warns of gusty winds that could blow around unsecured objects, potentially leading to tree limbs being blown down and a few power outages.
Additionally, Coastal Flood Advisories have been issued for Cecil County, Southeast Harford County, and St. Marys County in Maryland. These advisories warn of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas due to tidal flooding, with impacts ranging from flooding along Back Creek in Chesapeake City to water covering roads on Saint George Island.
These severe weather alerts highlight the importance of staying informed and prepared for changing weather conditions. Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their property from potential hazards.
