The warnings, ranging from two to three feet of inundation above ground level, are expected to cause significant flooding in low-lying regions due to tidal influences.

In Calvert County, residents are facing high tides of around 3.5 feet, leading to water accumulation on streets like Charles Street and Williams Street in Solomons, as well as near 9th Street in North Beach. The situation is expected to worsen on Thursday morning, with tides reaching up to 4.0 feet, potentially flooding additional streets and structures in the area.
Similarly, Southeast Harford County is also under a Coastal Flood Advisory, with two to two and a half feet of inundation predicted. Areas like the Havre de Grace Yacht Basin and Hutchins Park are at risk of flooding, especially during high tide periods.
Further south, in Saint Mary’s County, the Coastal Flood Warning anticipates water levels of two and a half to three feet above normal. Locations such as Saint Georges Island, Smith Creek, and Jutland Creek are expected to experience flooding, impacting marinas and nearby structures.
In Anne Arundel County, the Coastal Flood Warning extends to Friday morning, with water levels reaching up to 4.2 feet. This could lead to significant flooding in areas like Annapolis City Dock, the Maritime Museum, and Bayside Beach, affecting businesses and roadways.
The Coastal Flood Advisories in the City of Alexandria and Arlington County warn of water approaching buildings and curbs, with tides two and a half to three feet above normal. These areas are likely to experience flooding around high tide periods on Thursday.
As climate change continues to exacerbate sea-level rise, coastal communities must remain vigilant and prepared for the increasing frequency and intensity of coastal flooding events. The NWS advises residents in the affected areas to take necessary precautions and stay informed about the evolving weather conditions.
