The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued multiple Winter Weather Advisories for the Oregon and Washington Cascades, warning of significant snowfall and gusty winds in the region. These advisories are in effect until early Monday morning, impacting travel and creating hazardous conditions for residents and motorists.
In Oregon, the East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades are expected to receive additional snow accumulations of up to 7 inches above 4500 feet. The NWS warns of moderate to heavy snowfall rates and gusty winds up to 35 mph, leading to very difficult driving conditions on US-20 and other roadways in the area.
Similarly, the Upper Slopes of the Eastern Washington Cascades Crest are forecasted to experience snow above 4000 feet with additional accumulations between 2 and 6 inches. Periods of moderate and heavy snow, coupled with low visibilities, will make driving challenging on I-90 and other roads in the region until late Sunday evening.
Moreover, the Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon and the Northwest Blue Mountains in Washington are under a Winter Weather Advisory with expected snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches above 4500 feet. Travel could be significantly impacted by periods of moderate to heavy snowfall until early Monday morning.
In Puerto Rico, a Special Weather Statement has been issued for strong thunderstorms with wind gusts up to 40 mph, potentially causing tree limb damage and unsecured object displacement in the Levittown area.
Additionally, Wind Advisories have been issued for South Dakota, warning of breezy to windy south winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph in some counties. These conditions may result in the blowing around of unsecured objects and a few power outages.
As the weather patterns shift and intensify, it is crucial for residents in these regions to stay informed about the changing conditions and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. Travelers are advised to exercise caution on the roads and be prepared for delays and disruptions due to the inclement weather.
