The United States is currently experiencing a diverse range of weather phenomena, with various alerts issued across different regions. From high surf advisories to flash flood warnings, winter weather advisories, and frost advisories, the country is facing a mix of challenging conditions.
In California, a High Surf Advisory has been issued for San Luis Obispo County Beaches and Santa Barbara County Central Coast Beaches. Large breaking waves of 8 to 11 feet, with local max sets to 13 feet, are expected, accompanied by dangerous rip currents. The advisory warns of an increased risk for ocean drowning and urges caution for swimmers, surfers, and boaters.
In Mississippi, a Flash Flood Warning is in effect due to thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have already fallen, with additional rainfall expected. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses is ongoing or anticipated.
Moving to Wyoming, Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings have been issued for different mountain ranges. The Absaroka Mountains are expected to receive between 6 and 12 inches of snow, with winds gusting as high as 60 mph, making travel difficult. The Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains are under a Winter Storm Warning, with heavy snowfall of 10 to 18 inches and hazardous road conditions.
On the East Coast, Frost Advisories have been issued for parts of Maryland and New Jersey. Temperatures as low as 35 degrees are forecasted, posing a threat to sensitive outdoor vegetation. Frost formation could harm plants if left uncovered, emphasizing the need for protective measures.
