As severe weather continues to impact various regions, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued multiple alerts across the United States. From rip currents to thunderstorms and flood warnings, residents in different states are urged to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions.
In North Carolina and South Carolina, a Rip Current Statement has been issued for Coastal Pender, Coastal New Hanover, Coastal Horry, and Coastal Georgetown Counties. Dangerous rip currents and strong longshore currents are expected from 6 AM EDT Saturday through Saturday evening. These currents can pose a threat to swimmers, potentially sweeping them away from shore into deeper waters.
Additionally, a Coastal Flood Advisory has been issued for the lower Cape Fear River area in North Carolina. Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level is expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways from midnight tonight to 3 AM EDT Saturday. Minor coastal flooding may occur in certain areas, impacting roadways and drainage systems.
In Utah, Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have been issued for locations such as Dameron Valley, Pine Valley, and Veyo. Quarter-size hail and damaging winds are expected, posing a risk to vehicles and outdoor structures. Residents in these areas are advised to seek shelter and avoid outdoor activities until the storms pass.
Furthermore, a Flood Advisory has been issued for Saint Croix in the Virgin Islands, where excessive rainfall is expected to cause minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Doppler radar indicates heavy rain due to thunderstorms, with up to 1 inch of rain already fallen and additional rainfall expected.
In Nevada, a Flash Flood Warning has been issued for West Central Clark County, with thunderstorms producing heavy rain and the potential for life-threatening flash flooding. Residents in affected areas, including Red Rock Canyon, Blue Diamond, and Summerlin, are urged to take immediate precautions to ensure their safety.
As severe weather events continue to unfold, it is crucial for residents to stay informed, heed the advice of local authorities, and prepare for potential impacts. By staying alert and taking proactive measures, individuals can help mitigate risks and ensure their safety during inclement weather conditions.
