Constructed nearly 120 years ago by the talented architect Louis J. Millet, the dome overlooking Normal Hall is a true masterpiece. Adorned with depictions of historical figures in art, philosophy, and culture, this dome once graced the reading room of the Indiana State Normal School. Similarly, the dome in Fairbanks Hall, also built around the same time, features bust portraits of 16 notable figures in history, including authors, presidents, politicians, artists, inventors, and composers.
By attending this event, you will have the opportunity to delve deeper into the stories behind these historic structures and learn more about the significance they hold. Whether you are a history enthusiast, architecture lover, or simply curious about the past, this event promises to be a fascinating and enriching experience.
The Time Travelers Event is free for members of Indiana Landmarks and the Vigo County History Center. For non-members, regular admission is $7 for adults and $6 for seniors over 60. Don’t miss this chance to step back in time and uncover the hidden gems of Indiana State University’s campus.
