As severe weather events continue to impact various regions, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued multiple alerts to warn residents of potential dangers. From wind advisories to flood warnings and rip current statements, the alerts aim to keep the public informed and safe amidst changing weather conditions.
In Marshall and Roberts Counties, a Wind Advisory has been issued until 3 PM CDT, with west winds reaching 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph. The advisory warns of potential power outages and objects being blown around due to the gusty winds.
In Puerto Rico, a Flood Advisory is in effect until 2 PM AST, with heavy rainfall causing minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Doppler radar indicates ongoing or expected flooding in locations like San Juan, Canovanas, and Carolina, with additional rainfall expected to worsen the situation.
Similarly, southeast Georgia, including Bryan, Chatham, and Effingham Counties, is under a Flood Advisory until 2:15 PM EDT. Heavy rain from thunderstorms has led to minor flooding in the area, with hourly rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches causing deep ponding of water along roadways.
A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Chatham County in southeastern Georgia until 2:15 PM EDT, with thunderstorms producing heavy rain and flash flooding. Reports of 2 to 3 inches of rain have already fallen, leading to flash flooding of small creeks, streams, and urban areas.
In Allegan County, Michigan, a Beach Hazards Statement warns of high wave action, strong currents, and dangerous swimming conditions until Monday afternoon. The statement highlights the risk of swimmers being pulled into deeper water and waves sweeping people off piers.
Additionally, a Rip Current Statement has been issued for Coastal New Hanover County, warning of dangerous rip currents and up to half a foot of coastal flooding above ground level. The statement advises caution for swimmers and coastal areas prone to flooding.
As these severe weather events unfold, it is crucial for residents to stay informed, heed warnings from authorities, and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. By being vigilant and prepared, individuals can mitigate risks and navigate through challenging weather conditions effectively.
