These advisories warn of up to one half foot of inundation above ground level in vulnerable areas, with minor coastal flooding expected to linger beyond high tide in back bays.
In Virginia, Coastal Flood Advisories and Warnings cover Dorchester, Wicomico, Somerset, Westmoreland, Richmond, Northumberland, Lancaster, Eastern Essex, Gloucester, Middlesex, Mathews, and York Counties. Water levels are projected to rise up to one and a half feet above ground level, potentially causing shallow flooding in low-lying, vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.
The impacts of these coastal flood events include flooding of lots, parks, and roads, with isolated closures expected. Shallow flooding could lead to property damage, road closures, and inundation of vehicles, posing a threat to homes and businesses near the waterfront.
