As severe weather patterns continue to impact various regions, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued multiple flood advisories across the United States. From North Carolina to Arizona, heavy rainfall has led to flooding in several areas, prompting concerns about potential damage and safety risks.
In central North Carolina, including Chatham and Lee counties, a Flood Advisory has been issued until 2:15 AM EDT. Doppler radar indicates heavy rain from thunderstorms, with between 0.5 and 2 inches of rainfall already fallen. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected, leading to minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Similarly, in west central Arizona, specifically Yavapai County in the Paulden area, a Flood Advisory is in effect until 11:00 PM MST. Flooding along Big Chino Wash has been reported, with additional creeks, washes, and rivers experiencing rising water levels. Locations like Paulden are particularly affected, with flooding reported on various roads in the area.
In north central North Carolina and south central Virginia, including Caswell County and the City of Danville, a Flood Advisory is also in place until 2:15 AM EDT. Heavy rain from thunderstorms is expected to cause minor flooding in low-lying areas, with additional rainfall of up to 2 inches anticipated.
Additionally, a Special Weather Statement has been issued in Peachtree City, Georgia, warning of a strong thunderstorm moving eastward. Up to 40 mph winds, frequent lightning, and heavy rain may lead to minor damage and temporary street flooding in areas like Fayetteville and Peachtree City.
On the island of Kauai in Hawaii, a Flood Advisory is in effect until 8:30 PM HST, with heavy rainfall causing minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and streams. Hanakapiai Stream has already experienced a rise in water levels, prompting caution in locations like Princeville and Hanalei.
In Maricopa County, Arizona, a Flood Warning has been issued until 8:00 AM MST Saturday due to water releases causing flooding in rivers, creeks, and streams. Low-water crossings are inundated, impacting areas like Salt River below Granite Reef Dam.
As these severe weather events unfold, it is crucial for residents in affected areas to stay informed, follow safety guidelines, and heed evacuation orders if necessary. The NWS continues to monitor the situation closely and provide updates to ensure the well-being of communities facing these weather challenges.
