In Goodland, Kansas, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Cheyenne County in northwestern Kansas and southeastern Dundy County in southwestern Nebraska. The warning is in effect until 8:00 PM MDT/9:00 PM CDT, with severe thunderstorms moving east at 20 mph, bringing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees are expected.
Simultaneously, a Flash Flood Warning has been issued for North Platte, Nebraska, with heavy rain causing flash flooding in the warned area. Doppler radar indicates thunderstorms producing heavy rain, with between 1 and 3.5 inches of rain already fallen and an expected rainfall rate of 0.25 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses is ongoing or expected.
Additional Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have been issued for areas in Goodland and North Platte, with the potential for damaging winds and hail. Residents in these areas are advised to take precautions and stay updated on the latest weather alerts.
