As the weather patterns shift and evolve, various regions in the United States are currently experiencing severe weather conditions, prompting alerts and advisories from the National Weather Service (NWS). From dense fog to coastal flooding and severe thunderstorms, these weather events are impacting different parts of the country.
In parts of Minnesota, a Dense Fog Advisory has been issued by the NWS Grand Forks ND and NWS Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN. Visibility is reduced to one quarter to one half mile in dense fog, making driving conditions hazardous. This advisory is in effect until Wednesday morning, emphasizing the need for caution on the roads.
In coastal areas of South Carolina, a Coastal Flood Advisory has been issued by the NWS Charleston SC. The advisory warns of up to one half foot of inundation above ground level along shorelines and tidal waterways, potentially making some roads impassable. This advisory is in effect until midnight tonight, coinciding with high tide around 10:00 PM in Charleston.
Meanwhile, in Florida, a Flood Advisory has been issued by the NWS Melbourne FL for east central Florida, particularly Volusia County. Urban and small stream flooding is expected due to excessive rainfall from thunderstorms, with up to 1.5 inches of rain already fallen and additional amounts anticipated. This could lead to minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Additionally, severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued in Kansas and Colorado. In Goodland, Kansas, a severe thunderstorm with 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail is moving northeast over rural areas of northern Dundy County. In Denver, Colorado, a severe thunderstorm with ping pong ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts is affecting southwestern Phillips County.
These weather alerts highlight the importance of staying informed and prepared during severe weather events. It is crucial for residents in the affected areas to heed the warnings from the NWS, take necessary precautions, and stay updated on changing weather conditions.
